Certificate options for Victorian students are changing in 2023

For many Head Start students continuing their secondary school studies in 2023, outcomes in relation to certificate completion will change.

Victoria is moving to a new integrated senior secondary certificate in 2023, which will be fully integrated by 2025. This will bring together the VCE and VCAL certificates. These reforms will ensure every student has the skills they need to find rewarding careers and reach their full potential.

In 2023, Head Start students will have the option of undertaking either the VCE Vocational Major or Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC). These new certificate options will replace the former VCAL certificate offerings within Victorian schools. Students moving from VCAL in 2022 to Year 12 in 2023 may be provided transitional credit arrangements as per VCAA guidelines. Head Start team members will work with individual schools to ensure that each student is provided the best platform for academic success during this period.
