Head Start is a program designed to help your business recruit quality apprentices and trainees with the literacy and numeracy skills you need for business success. Head Start helps growing Victorian industries fill vacant positions while offering passionate students the opportunity to kick-start their career alongside completing Year 12.
When students finish school, they have their Year 12 Certificate, as well as having finished (or be close to finishing) their training – and your business has a talented recruit, ready to begin permanent work.
HOW HEAD START WORKS
A Head Start pathway involves students attending school some days of the week, and work on others. Workplace days can be personalized, depending on your needs as their employer.
Since every business is different, Head Start Coordinators communicate directly with schools and training organisations to create bespoke timetable arrangements that match your workforce needs.
Students are eligible to explore a Head Start pathway at Years 10, 11 or 12. Apprenticeships or traineeships can commence at any time in the school year, provided the student is identified as being committed to the employability outcomes you require.
